Getting To Weeki Wachee Springs. Located about an hour north of Tampa and just under 2 hours west of Orlando, Weeki Wachee is the perfect day trip. The town of Weeki Wachee is incredibly small and the springs are probably the biggest attraction. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park (with the mermaid show and water park) are different than Weeki Wachee Springs kayaking but share the same parking lot. Paying for one does not get you into the other. Thankfully we knew that in advance of our end of June 2021 visit. We really enjoyed our visit today to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park but our positive experience was most likely due to the park only being at 1/4 capacity. No crowds and no problem getting into the Mermaid show. We quite enjoyed it, the definition of a classic, retro Florida attraction.
